With a 20-core controller, 384 GB of system memory, and 6.4 TB of NVMe read cache backed by TrueCache® NVDIMM write acceleration, the M50 supports up to 10 PB of unified file, block, and object storage. Eight expansion shelves provide massive scalability for data-intensive environments including virtualization, media production, high-speed file sharing, and backup operations.

TrueCache® NVDIMM and NVMe Performance

TrueCache® NVDIMM + 6.4 TB NVMe — Flash Performance at Petabyte Scale

The TrueNAS M50 combines DRAM, TrueCache® NVDIMM write caching, and 6.4 TB of NVMe read cache with high-density disks for low-latency flash performance at disk capacity and cost. TrueCache® NVDIMM stores data before writing to the ZFS pool, ensuring protection and mirroring for high availability — and surviving power loss without data loss.

Self-Healing Data Protection

Utilizing the OpenZFS file system, the M50 automatically detects and repairs in-flight data corruption before it reaches the disk, and identifies and scrubs bit rot and data decay, ensuring data integrity and reliability.

Intelligent Storage Optimization

TrueNAS Adaptive Compression (TAC) dynamically adjusts compression to enhance performance and maximize capacity efficiently, achieving data reduction ratios exceeding 2.5× to maximize the 10 PB physical pool.
